On June 9, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Shenzhen University jointly organized an online and offline symposium in Beijing and Shenzhen entitled "The Rule of Law in Foreign Affairs from the Perspective of 'One Country, Two Systems': Opportunities and Prospects. The event is held to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Hong Kong's Return to the Motherland. Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng, Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, and President of Shenzhen University Mao Junfa attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
More than 130 representatives attended the seminar, including representatives from the Hong Kong Basic Law Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the State Council, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Commerce, the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong SAR, the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, the relevant departments of the Hong Kong and Macao SAR governments, and experts and scholars from the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao.
Representatives at the meeting conducted in-depth discussions on six sub-themes, two major themes, "Hong Kong SAR and the construction of foreign-related rule of law in the new era" and "Better play the role of the Hong Kong SAR in promoting international cooperation on the rule of law".
